About Structural Engineer Registration
Structural Engineer registration recognises Professional Engineers in Papua New Guinea who specialise in structural design — engineers responsible for the safety, stability and integrity of buildings, bridges and other structures. It sits alongside general Professional Engineer registration with the Professional Engineers Registration Board (PERB), formally endorsing an engineer's demonstrated competence in structural practice.
Registered Structural Engineers carry particular responsibility for public safety, given the direct consequences of structural design decisions on the built environment.
Who This Is For
Structural Engineer registration is suited to those who:
- Are already registered as a Professional Engineer (Member) with IEPNG and PERB.
- Practise primarily in structural design, analysis, and assessment of buildings, bridges, or other structures.
- Can demonstrate sound engineering education and adequate practical experience in structural engineering.
- Wish to be formally recognised as competent to take responsibility for structural design decisions in Papua New Guinea.
Structural Engineer registration is administered through the Professional Engineers Registration Board (PERB) alongside standard Professional Engineer registration, and does not replace the requirement to hold current Member status with IEPNG.
